  1. Mashallah, I loved your poem "Hawa Abdullahi Farah". It really touched my heart. I am currently in college taking a family relation course in nursing. For a recent paper I interviewed a Somali family along with reading Scholarly articals in regard to the Somali culture and experiences with the immigration process. Part of my presentation about the Somali culture included your poem. All of my classmates commmented how amazing your poem was and that it also touched their hearts. Well, just wanted to share. Thank you for sharing your amazing thoughts and helping people to get a glimps into the Somali culture. -Tricia K.

    1. "Start with what you know - and let that grow." ;-)
I am 100% sure that there will be a topic/genre that you can write about better than anyone else - so start with what fills you with joy or excitement and persevere with that. Writing is like a muscle - you have to keep working it out to grow it.
Thank you sincerely for the encouragement - I've been getting caught up in life's craziness and neglecting my writing, so it means a lot for you to remind me that I too need to get back into writing more!
